Feldkirch-Tosters-Hub Austria

Gasthof Lowen is very nice and I awoke to a wonderful site of snow capped mountains to the West and South, however the Catholic Church across the street has an incrediably loud set of bells that ring 24x7 on the quarter hour. Larry and I had visited the Austria State Library and Archive yesterday afternoon and met with the excellent Archivist Christoph and his assistants. We began our search for our roots in earnest. This morning we toured St. Corneli Catholic Church above Tosters thru a small forest and plan to revisit it and nearby ruins and Hubb, later this afternoon and wrap up our day at Gasthaus Liebb near the church. Hub (pronounced "Hoob") is a tiny village adjoining Tosters closer to Lichtenstein, that seems to have been the home of Joseph Blenke, son of Andreas, and father of Michael Anton Blenke, our immigrant Great, Great, Grandfather who immigtrated in 1842 with two of his brothers to buy land and farm in Kentucky near Cincinnati. We have found several references to their leaving for America and an excellent historical text on the village of Tosters by Bayer Rainer here in the State Archive. The archiveist we have met actually contributed to this text. We have found records of the Blenke Family here back to 1459 including those of Joseph in the late 1700's applying for the permission to start a Weinstubbe - Gasthaus to sell the product of he and his family´s vinyards. Pictures to follow this evening....
